Welcome at the Cartographiae Historicae Cathedra

The Cartographiae Historicae Cathedra (CHC) Foundation was established in 2005 to organize the Explokart Chair of Historical Cartography. The Foundation also provides secretarial support, a scientific staff member and other academic staff. It is important to maintain the field of Historical Cartography and also to encourage and support young talent. Since 2015 Prof. Dr. Bram Vannieuwenhuyze has occupied the Chair.

The Foundation has been designated as a Dutch ANBI foundation, which means that, under certain conditions, private donations are deductible for income tax purposes.
